Samsung Godiva Passes FCC: Godiva May Soon Reach Verizon
New York: In January, 2013, a Samsung smartphone appeared online. The new smartphone was codenamed ‘Godiva’. The online listing showed many interesting features for the smartphone. It was supposed to come powered with 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. The device runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The display resolution was expected o be 720 p.
After a couple of days, the images of Samsung smartphone ‘Godiva’ appeared online. After that there was no information about the device leaving everyone wondering whether it was just a rumor or Samsung is really working on such smartphone.
According to latest information, ‘Godiva’ passed the FCC certification and it may be released in US soon. The device is still referred with its code name ‘Godiva’ the device is expected to be entering the US markets after completing all the formalities.
The Samsung smartphone was spotted at FCC. The model number of it was SCH-i425. Based the documents that are related to the device, it is confirmed that the new device will support LTE and CDMA. It may also feature AWS network support. All this indicate that the device is ready to be released in US soon. It was also reported earlier that Samsung ‘Godiva’ will be offered by mobile carrier Verizon.
Presence of Samsung ‘Godiva’ in the list of products will be an advantage for Verizon as the device supports NFC mobile payments through ISIS. The device may be released along with Samsung Galaxy S4. If both the devices are released at a time, it is unlikely that customers pay attention to ‘Godiva’ as all eyes will be on the flagship model of the device but not on the device that is designed exclusively for Verizon.
Apart from what was revealed by the FCC test results, everything about Godiva known to the world was from leaks and rumors. The images were also leaked in the middle of January. It is now known whether the present device spotted is a device in the stratosphere line of mobile phones of Samsung or not. The model numbers of Stratosphere original was SCH-I405, Stratosphere 2 was SCH-I415. Godiva has a model number SCH-I425 indicating that this may be a series in the line up of Stratosphere.
