Ford Eco Sport challenger from Mahindra, the S101 Compact SUV spied towing Genio Pickup Truck

New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra is planning a brand new compact Sports Utility Vehicle to tackle the Ford’s Eco Sport in the Indian market. The model has been codenamed as S 101 and it has been few months since the rumor about the compact SUV was heard. Now the rumor has not remained rumor any more as some enthusiast has managed to spot a test mule of the model on Indian roads.

Now some more spy snaps of the model have been revealed over web making it clear to the car lovers that the brand new compact SUV from Mahindra is on the line and it will be soon ready for launch in the Indian market. The brand new S101 is currently under testing phase and we may expect the official launch to be scheduled during the first half of 2014. It is expected that Mahindra has planned a wide number of surprises with the S101 compact SUV for Indian buyers.

It is informed that Mahindra is going to equip the upcoming S101 compact SUV with a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder Quattro diesel engine which is one of the most reliable small engines of Mahindra. As we can observe from the spy snaps revealed, the test mule which is claimed to be of the Mahindra S101 is fully covered with camouflage and some pads have also been stuffed under the camouflage to misguide us from getting an idea about the design. The vehicle is towing a Mahindra Genio, a small sized pickup truck from the manufacturer in India. Most of the car makers conducts towing test for their models prior to the launch in order to test the power and stability of the engine while carrying load.

The snaps clearly explained that S101 is going to have two air dams on the front fascia and the front grille is going to sport unique design. As compact SUV segment is going to be the largest segment in the Indian car market in upcoming years, there is no surprise that Mahindra would concentrate on S101 more and is expected to make it difficult survive for Ford’s hot favorite, Eco Sport.
