Ram Charan, Priyanka Chopra’s Zanjeer Review: A Typical Bollywood Masala Movie
Ram Charan Teja is one of the top actor sin Telugu film industry. Ram Charan made his debut in Bollywood with the remake of Zanjeer. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt in the role of Sher Khan.
Hyderabad: Ram Charan Teja is one of the top actor in Tollywood industry having a strong fan following. He entered into Bollywood with the remake of Zanjeer with the same name. The movie is also made into Telugu with the name Toofan. Both the versions were released on the same day 6th September, 2013. Priyanka Chopra played the female role lead in the movie. The movie is directed by Apoorva Lakhiya.
Coming to the story of the movie, ACP Vijay Khanna, played by Ram Charan is a sincere and powerful police officer. He gets transferred to Mumbai. He is given the responsibility of investigating the murder case of a deputy collector. Vijay comes to know that oil mafia is involved in the murder. The only eye witness to the murder is Priyanka Chopra who is an NRI. Knowing this, Vijay requests her to help him. Prakash Raj is the leader of the oil mafia. What happens between the villain and the hero forms the rest of the story. The character of Sher Khan played by Pran in the original movie is played by Sanjay Dutt in the new version.
The latest movie cannot be compared to the original Zanjeer. Action scenes between the hero and the villain are choreographed well. Ram Charan looks confident in scenes with the senior actors. Priyanka is bubbly and beautiful. The song Pinky is shot well and has a good beat. The scenes between Teja and Mona are outrageous. Sanjay Dutt as Sher Khan fits well in the character. But he could do nothing as there is only limited screen space for him. Atul Kulkarni plays crime reporter and he excels in his character. Prakash Raj’s talent is also wasted as he is playing similar roles recently.
Editing of Zanjeer should have been better. The background score is good but only in some scenes. Apoorva Lakhia’s direction is sleek. Over all when not compared to the original movie, new Zanjeer is another Bollywood masala movie. Camera work is good.
