Blackberry Losing Market Share in Developed Countries
Blackberry’s is losing mobile phone market share in most developed countries including in US. Android operating system mobile phones being launched in the market are giving tough competition to Blackberry phones. The company is also losing income.
Washington: Blackberry was once one of the top mobile phone company and consumers used to queue outside their stores to buy a mobile handset. They used to search internet to know the upcoming models of the company. They used to compete to own the new handsets by placing orders online even before they were launched in the market. But now the situations have changed completely. Many companies are now releasing their smartphones into the market and giving tough competition to Blackberry. This is not confined to any one country but this is the same situation in all the countries. Blackberry informed that this is severely affecting the profits of the company. There used to be great demand for Blackberry phones in US market but there is not much demand for them.
Most of the companies are launching their smartphones with Android operating system after it is released into the market by Google. Many applications are also now available. At the same time Blackberry software applications are not available as per the expectations of the customers. As a result many customers started opting for Android phones. This led to decreased market share of Blackberry. Blackberry sales are now more in Africa and Europe than in America. The inventory of various new mobile phones is increasing which is becoming a burden for the company. Blackberry introduced mobile phones with BB 10 operating system but the sales of BB 7 Os were more in the quarter that ended recently. Blackberry Z that was introduced with BB 10 operating system prices were slashes.
An agreement was signed by Fairfax Financial Holding and Blackberry for $470 crore Dollars. Blackberry is going to remove nearly 4,500 employees soon, it is informed. Google and Motorola Mobility are showing interest to take the talented into their companies. Motorola Mobility announced that it will set up a new hub in Waterloo. But the company did not reveal how many employees it will recruit. Other startup companies are also inviting Blackberry employees into their organizations.
