CLAT-2014 Counseling To Go Online: CLAT 2014 on 11thMay, 2014
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) counseling for students will be conducted online from the upcoming academic session. This was announced by Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), convener of CLAT of 2014 after the first meeting of the core committee. CLAT-2014 will be held on May 11, 2014.
New Delhi: In its first core committee meeting held on October 22, 2013, GNLU and 14 other national law universities discussed various matters related to CLAT, including eligibility criteria for undergraduated and PG courses, test centers, notification for application forms, importance dates and the question pattern of the exam. The scheduled date for CLAT-2014 has been fixed as May 11, 2014. The core committee meeting was convened by Dr. Bimal Patel, Director of GNLU in which directors and vice chancellors participated.
The most significant feature added to CLAT from 2014 is the introduction of centralized online counseling. The scheme will save the time and energy of thousands of students and parents besides making the overall admission process more efficient. A website for CLAT-2014 has been launched. The authorities at GNLU said that suggestions for further streamlining the admission procedure within the CLAT framework are welcome and they can be posted on the website.
In 2013, 31,000 students appeared for CLAT for about 1600 seats in various national law universities across India. In 2014, GNLU expects more than 35,000 applications for CLAT.
The participating universities are : NLSIU, Bengaluru (Karnataka); NALSAR, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh); NLIU, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh); WBNUJS, Kolkata (West Bengal); NLU, Jodhpur (Rajasthan); HNLU, Raipur (Chhattisgarh); RMLNLU, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh); RGNUL, Patiala (Punjab); CNLU, Patna (Bihar); NUALS, Kochi (Kerala); NLUO, Cuttack (Odisha); NUSRL, Ranchi (Jharkhand); and NLUJA, Guwahati (Assam).Queries and suggestions can be sent on [email protected].
CLAT is an all India entrance examination conducted annually by each of the NLUs on rotational basis. Candidates seeking admission to under graduate (Bachelor’s Degree in Law of LLB) and postgraduate (Master of Law of LLM) programs in the NLUs need to appear for CLAT.
