South Indian Actress, Anjali Devi, Passes Away
13.01.2014: South Indian Actress, Anjali Devi, Passes Away. She died due to cardiac arrest. On 11th January she admitted into hospital due to breathing problems. She acted in nearly 500 films in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil languages. She was 85 years old. She is the first woman president of South India Film Artiste’s Association. Anjali Devi is successful film maker with the banner Anjali Pictures.

13.01.2014: World Athletics Championship final winner is Anju Bobby George. Final Matches were conducted at Monte Carlo in 2005. IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federation) has taken this decision on 13th January 2014. At World Athletics world cup finals in 2005, gold medal won by Tatyana Kotova (long jump of 6.83 meters) and Silver medal was won by Anju Bobby George (long jump 6.75 meters). IAAF disqualified the Gold Medal of Kotova for doping.

India completes 3 years without reporting any Polio case
13.01.2014: India completes 3 years without reporting any Polio case. In the history this is the second time that a disease is being eliminated in India through immunisation after small pox in May 1980. On February 11th 2014, WHO (World Health Organisation) will officially certify India as polio free.

13.01.2014: 2 Indigenous Glucose Monitoring Devices Launched by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Name of these devices are QuickcheQ and Suchek. Glucometers and Testing strips help in mass screening and detection feasibility. Nanobios Lab of Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, has designed Suchek. For health camps Suchek is most useful.

13.01.2014: Foundation laid for 2800 Megawatt Nuclear Power plant in Fatehabad district of Haryana by Manmohan Singh , Prime Minister. Name of this project is Anu Vidyut Pariyojna. This project has 4 units with the capacity of 700 MWs each. Estimated cost of the project is Rs.23502 crores. In Haryana this is the first nuclear plant.

13.01.2014: For not maintaining Toansa plant in line with the required standards, FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) raised concern over Ranbaxy. Form 483 issued against Ranbaxy laboratory by FDA. Most of the raw material used by Ranbaxy is manufacturing at Toansa plant, Punjab.
