Hyundai ‘Xcent’ Sedan launched – Sales starts in March to beat Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and Ford Figo Sedan
Hyundai has recently stopped the production of the veteran hot favourite sedan in India, the ‘Accent’. In order to fill the gap formed with its dismissal, a brand new affordable sedan model has been launched at the Auto Expo 2014 held at Greater Noida. The new sedan has been dubbed as ‘Xcent’ and it is considered to be an extreme version of the Accent sedan mostly. Hyundai has launched the Xcent sedan in both petrol as well as in diesel versions at the event.
The new Xcent sedan is just another Grand i10 with a boot space on the rear and thus same engine specs of the hatch back are continued with the new sedan. Hyundai has worked hard to make the sedan fit under 4 meters and kept the engine displacement not exceeding 1.5 litre in order to escape from the heavy excise duties that are being imparted on bigger vehicles in India. The manufacturer is looking forward to have a breakthrough in the sedan segment by offering the new Xcent with a wide range of exclusive features for an affordable price tag.
Some of the exclusive features of the new Xcent sedan are
- Brand new head lamps and fog lamps
- Arm rests with cup holders on the rear
- Rear parking assist technology
- Dual air bags for the safety of driver and passenger in the front
- Rear defogger
- Central locking system
- Anti lock breaking system
- Glove box cooling
- Premium dash board
- 15 inch diamond cut alloy wheels
- Electro chromic mirrors with auto folding ability
- Smart key entry and Push button start/ stop function
- 2 DIN audio system with USB Connectivity and CD player
- Internal memory of 1 GB with audio system
- Steering mounted audio controls
Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, the Senior Vice President for Sales & Marketing, HMIL has stated in connection with the launch of Xcent “With the Xcent, we are entering one of the fastest growing segments in the Indian car market. Last year, the compact sedan segment grew 39 per cent to about 24000 units a month. We want to be a significant player in this segment. Our main aim is to generate volumes by consolidating existing brands, evaluating the market for entry into newer segments with product interventions and strengthening our reach by increasing our sales and service network, especially in rural areas”.
We can expect the brand new Hyundai Xcent sedan to be available for sale in India by the end of this March and the pricing details of the model have not been revealed yet.
