Ssangyong XLV launched at Geneva – 1.6L diesel engine mated to 10kW electric motor delivers 27 kmpl
Ssangyong has launched the brand new XLV Crossover concept at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show 2014 and the seven seated sports utility vehicle is one of the unique models launched at the show this year. As per the information, Indian market will soon get rebadged version of the model as Mahindra is in the process to dub the model in India soon. After being spotted several times in the past, Ssangyong has launched the new XLV at one of the prestigious stages for automobiles in the world currently.
The new XLV can be treated as the next gen variant of the XIV – 1 multi interface concept series which was introduced in the year 2011 at Frankfurt Motor Show. The new SUV is large in size when compared with most of the other models in the segment and it is a hybrid vehicle basically. The new Ssangyong XLV measures around 4430 mm of length, 1845 mm of width and 1600 mm of height along with a larger wheel base of around 2600 mm. The seating arrangement of the model is quite unusual but the manufacturer is confident about the new strategy. There will be three rows of seats each accommodating two passengers and the seventh passenger seat will be moving between the second and third rows of seats.
Power comes from a 1.6 litre four cylinder diesel engine that is mated to an electric motor of capacity 10 kW. The respective electric motor is mated to 500 kWh Lithium ion batteries and the model can be considered eco friendly by having CO2 emission figure as just 98 grams per km. XLV is also highly fuel efficient and on an average, the new SUV delivers around 27 kilometres per litre mileage. The vehicle looks aggressive with Ssangyong’s new design principles and the class of the model is reflected with the two toned interior design. Front fascia of the model gets large bumper integrated with LED strips. We could see the new Ssangyong XLV – eXciting smart Lifestyle Vehicle in the Indian market very soon.
