Modi’s Caste: Its Relevance In Present Elections
The BJP PM Candidate Narendra Modi is getting attacked by congress leaders with his personal issues. NaMo’s caste is gaining more prominence in congress leaders’ speeches.
New Delhi: The BJP PM Candidate Narendra Modi is receiving attacks from all sides (especially from the leaders of ruling congress party). The attacks are coming on his personal details like marital status, caste etc.
The so much hype created by congress leaders has little relevance in the present elections. Modi never asked for votes based on his caste. He only projected his background saying that his family was running business of ‘chaiwala’ and he was proud of the same as per the many speeches by him.
Earlier, NaMo’s marital status was unnecessarily dragged as a political issue and with little takers for the argument the issue went for natural death. Now nobody is talking about the marital status of NaMo. Meanwhile congress leaders also mentioned issue of Bharat Ratna to wife of NaMo. Congress leaders forgot that non congress party members generally are less preferred for the most prestigious civilian award of this country.
Even the present issue i.e, caste of NaMo will be finding lesser takers. In the first instance, there was a resolution in state assembly including certain castes as OBC and there has been no objection from congress at that time. The sole of congress’ raising this issue of caste of NaMo in the present elections, is to diver the attention of voters from the core issues of scams, corruption, inflation, unemployment etc and the ruling party has not been successful in its objective.
Instead of fighting it out in the election speeches, it would have been better had the congress left the issue (of NaMo’s caste) to Judiciary for taking a decision in this regard? The Gujarat government has done the required homework in pulling out its two-decade old notification including the NaMo’s caste in OBC category.
Whatever the causes of congress’ finding fault with each and every aspect of Narendra Modi’s personal life, it shows clearly that the congress has already lost the present elections and as a last resort of facing saving activities, the party is indulging in unwanted criticism against the BJP PM Candidate.
Difference in campaign by both the fronts is clear. The NDA is talking of development as single point agenda. The UPA and congress are resorting to personal criticism, internal affairs of BJP etc.
