Android 4.4.3 Kitkat update begins on Nexus Devices
An over-the-air update of Android 4.4.3 Kitkat has started trickling in to Google’s Nexus series of devices. Though the update is a minor one, it offers a couple of user interface tweaks. It has started to hit Google Nexus 5 devices and also phones that feature a raw Android 4.4 experience, including the Moto E, Moto G, Moto X, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition.
Washington: The new Android 4.4.3 Kitkat update is mainly to ensure that the phone and the tablets run smoothly and several bugs have been fixed to see that this happens.
One of them is to fix the battery drain issues that occur when the camera of the device is used. This happens only on devices with Qualcomm processors. But a notable number of phones and tablets run on Qualcomm. A new dailer application has been introduced which is effectively a Google design tweak. It includes a new color scheme on a white background with blue numbers and appears to suit the style of Kitkat. The people app offers the same functionality but without the grey photo icons for people without photos to a more colourful alternative.
A list of all the changes that could occur with the latest update is yet to be released by Google. The ones mentioned are the main ones though. It can be seen that this is not the biggest Android update.
The devices that receive the new update include, the Nexus 7 (2013 edition), Nexus 5 and the Google Play editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the HTC One M7, and the HTC One M8. If the update has not yet been received it could be accessed manually.
Android 4.4 was launched in October last year alongside Google’s newest smart phone, the Nexus 5. On the design front, Android 4.4 brought many refinements to the user interface by introducing the ability to enable translucency in areas such as the status bar and navigation buttons. It also features the new Google Experience Launcher which features much deeper Google Now integration with the ability to trigger voice search by saying “OK Google” on the homescreen. Shortly afterward Google released versions 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 which included substantial improvements to the Nexus 5 camera by focusing faster and having the camera software prefer faster shutter speeds.
