Kalvakuntal Chandrasekhar Rao, KCR is the president of Telangana Rashtra Samiti party which fought for the cause of separate Telangana state for more than a decade. UPA government bifurcated Andhra Pradesh though it was criticized to have been done against the wishes of people of Rayalaseema and Andhra region.

Appointed day of Telangana state is June 2 which is celebrated by supporters of Telangana. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are under president rule and it is revoked in Telangana with KCR took over as chief minister.

In the recently held assembly elections, Telangana Rashtra Samiti managed to secure 63 seats out of 119 seats and was invited by the governor to form the government.

This was the first time in the history of India that a region with capital city was demanding a separate state. The bifurcation was made hastily by Congress government and the residual Andhra Pradesh now has no capital city and has a deficit budget.

Uneasy calm prevailed as Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are separated officially. Some issues are to be sorted out between the two states and the major thing is Polavaram project. TRS is opposing the ordinance which transfers few villages of Khammam districts to Seemandhra.
