Meena More In Demand In Her 2nd Innings As Well
Meena has been well accepted by audience in her second innings as well. She is busy with third re-make of Drushyam (now in Tamil).
Chennai: Meena is one of the lucky stars to have received acceptance in her second innings as well. Meena started her career as child artist and acted in nearly 20 movies during the period 1982 to 1989.
Her movie career as lead has many hits with almost all the top heroes of her time. She did super hits movies with Megastar Chiranjeevi (Mutha Mestri), Nagarjuna (Allari Alludu, President Gari Pellam), Venkatesh (Chanti, Abbaigaru, Angarakshkudu), Balakrishna (Muddula Mogudu) etc.
Meena could share the screen with top heroines of her time. She co-starred with Ramya Krishna (Allari Mogudu), Roja (Palnati Simham) etc. Meena also acted with small time heroes like Naresh (Kongu Chatu Krishnudu), Harish (Pellam Chebite Vinali), Srihari (Like Maa Aayana Bangaram) etc., and most of these movies proved to be commercial success at box office.
During her career, Meena also got opportunity to show different shades of her acting calibre in films like Sri Vasavi Vaibhavam, Sri Manjunatha, Sri Jagadguru Aadi Shankara, Vengamamba etc.
As a matter of fact, a quick review of Meena’s filmography indicates that she portrayed more performance roles than just glamour roles.
During her busy career as top heroine and afterwards also Meena showed variety of her performance as actress, singer, model, judge, TV host, model & occasional dubbing artiste as well.
Out of her own successful career, Seetaramaayya Gari Manavaralu & Muthu have special place in view of the fact that they gave enough scope for her to show her acting talent. Muthu ensured widest fan following for her in Japan as well.
In recognition of her acting ability, she received numerous awards from various prestigious institutions and some of the awards include Tamilnadu State Awards, Nandi Awards, Movie Express Awards, Dinakaran Awards, Thumbs Up Awards, Kala Sagar Awards, Lalita Kalanjali Award etc.
After a successful career of more than 100 films, she got married in the year 2009 and reduced her movies. Now that she is once again actively pursuing acting as a career, she has been lucky to get wonderful role in Drushyam (Malayalam movie with Mohanlal in the lead role). Based on the super success of the movie, the movie got re-made in Telugu with the same with Venkatesh as the hero. This Telugu version also proved to be hit.
The subsequent remake of this movie into Tamil gave the hat-trick luck for Meena. The Tamil version will be having Kamal in the lead role and Meena will continue to repeat her role and performance in this Tamil version as well.
