Good Story Going For Many Remakes
Drushyam has been creating records in terms of collections as well as remakes in many regional and Hindi langauges.
Hyderabad: Good story always get support from audience. Many good stories got remade into other languages.
We have seen remakes being limited to just 1 or 2. The latest news is that Malayalam super hit movie Drushyam is going for multiple remakes.
The original story by Jeetu Joseph had Mohanlal & Meena in the Malayalam version. After seeing the super success of the movie, victory Venkatesh opted for its remake and Meena joined him in Telugu remake. Incidentally the Telugu version also proved to be commercial hit. Yesteryear actress Sripriya handled the megaphone for Telugu version.
Kannada movie industry adopted the same story with Ravichandran playing the lead role. Directed by P Vasu, the Kannada version had Navya Nair replaying the role of Meena.
Not to be left behind, Tamil movie industry is also going for remake of the same story. The original director Jeetu Joseph is once again handling the mega phone for Tamil version having Kamalhassan & Gautami in the lead roles. There were reports that Meena will continue her journey in this film (after Malayalam & Telugu and for Tamil version also). Then there were reports that actress Sridevi might be portraying the role played by Meena in the original version. Scheduled to release in early 2015, this movie also went for a name change from ‘Drusyam’ to ‘Papanasanam’.
Bollywood is also impressed with the excellent performance of the story in south languages. Famous production company Viacom18 obtained the rights for the remake of this movie in Hindi with Saif Ali Khan playing the lead role.
Despite the fact that Ekta Kapoor has objections regarding the ownership of the story, the reports confirm that the Hindi version will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh who created successful movie like Kahaani (turning point in the career of Vidya Balan).
