Power Politics In Andhra Pradesh
The politics in Telugu states are taking interesting turns with the latest developments taking place in both the states.
Vijayawada: The united Andhra Pradesh with 23 districts was predominantly recognised by its 3 area viz., Coastal (9 districts), Rayalaseema (4 districts) & Telangana (10 districts including Hyderabad the capital). Post split, Coastal & Rayalaseema remained as single unit while 10 districts came under new state of Telangana.
The first elections in divided state seen tough fight between TDP, congress & YSR Congress in AP Region, whereas Telangana witnessed face to face competition between TRS on one side and TDP-BJP alliance on the other side. The YSR Congress Party confined its presence only for AP region (reducing its cadre to literal zero in Telangana region).
Post elections, TRS formed the government in Telangana and TDP (with Chandrababu as CM in alliance with BJP) formed government in Andhra Pradesh. Both the divided units of AP state are having teething problems inherited by past mistakes of rulers.
Both the states are finding it difficult to mobilise the huge finances required for various developmental activities. They are also finding difficulty to provide water resources for various requirements – industrial, commercial, agricultural and domestic applications.
Under these hardships, YSR Congress Party is once again trying to become popular in Telangana Region. Though on the face of it, there is nothing wrong in political party trying to establish itself or improve its presence in any state, the hidden agenda behind the revival activities by YSRCP is inviting criticism. As per the reports, the revival (of YSRCP in Telangana) is a game plan of KCR (CM of Telangana). The reports indicate towards caste card having its under-current effect.
Post elections & TRS forming the government in Telangana, one caste i.e, Velama is becoming predominant. Another caste (Reddy caste) is having support of TDP. TDP is having solid leaders in Telangana like Yerrabelli Dayakar Reddy, Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, Revant Reddy etc and their increasing activities against the TRS government are likely to bring popularity for TDP in the state. These Reddy leaders (from TDP) are having solid background in terms of public support in their respective areas and they are always to criticise the actions of TRS government if they are not in the interest of people of the state.
To check, it is reported, that KCR & TRS ensured a hidden agreement with YSRCP for its revival. As we all know, Jaganmohan Reddy (chief of YSRCP) is having a solid background and support of Reddy caste and by ensuring revival of YSRCP in Telangana, KCR is planning to put a check on popularity being gained by TDP in the state.
