Jammu & Kashmir Voting For A Change
The most disturbed state in India has gone in for the first of five phases voting on 25th November 2014 and the response of the voters is quite encouraging.
New Delhi: The J&K voters are voting for a change. As usual, there is a large scale terror from cross border and there are equal numbers of threats for the democratic process in the elections that are being held for the state assembly. The first phase witnessed massive polling to the tune of 70%
The present elections are unique and special for the country and also for the state in question. The ruling alliance partners (JKNC & INC) ended their alliance and are facing the elections individually.
There is another important and deciding factor i.e., Bharatiya Janata Party. The party hitherto remained a minor political factor. With the nationwide Modi wave the party is quite hopeful that the Saffron flag is likely to establish in the state assembly.
The master strategist Amit Shah (President of BJP) prepared his master plan to achieve the party’s objective of ‘Mission 44’. The objective is to ensure 44 MLA seats against a total strength of 87 thereby enabling the party forming its own government.
The local conditions in the state are also not averse to BJP. The J&K people are fed up with rotation of power between INC, JKNC & PDP (in alliance and individually). The mean politics of these political parties without caring for the difficulties faced by the common man became the cause of angry by the voters.
The recent floods are recorded as one of the severest it the history of the state. The state CM could visit the flood affected areas only after PM Narendra Modi visited the affected and offered the required financial assistance. While Modi could travel all the way from Delhi, CM of the state Omar could not make it convenient to console the floods affected people.
Also there are numerous reports about the gross mis-utilisation of flood relief material forwarded by the centre. The relief material reached the ruling party workers rather than the needy and affected people.
The nation-wide negative feeling about congress party is another factor that can work in favour of BJP. The senior most political party of our country is deteriorating by every elections and losing ground in centre and many states as well (recent examples are Maharashtra & Haryana).
BJP, on the other hand, is promising genuinely due development for the state including bringing back normal law & order situation thereby enabling resumption of movie shootings in the state that can act as generator of employment for the people as well as revenue to the state government.
The results of the present elections are due to come out on 23rd December 2014.
