The Sidelights Of Memu Saitham
The program that is organized to raise funds for noble cause of Huhhud cyclone relief, has some interesting sidelights.
Visakhapatnam: The Telugu Film Industry TFI has always been in the forefront to donate in individual capacities and also raise funds on collective basis. There are many examples when the TFI organized many fund raising programs whenever there were natural calamities.
The recent cyclone HudHud caused severe damage to the 3 north Andhra district of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram & Srikakulam. Vizag, being industrialized city, had to face the highest degree of devastation.
TFI wanted to raise funds for the cyclone relief work under the name ‘Memu Saitham’. There were huge advertisement s in media and the program was successfully conducted on Sunday the 30th November 2014 at Vizag. Star anchors Jhansi & Suma coordinated the programs and almost the entire TFI ensured its presence. Reasonable amount of fund raising was also done and at the end of the program there was a cheque presentation function to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.
There are, however, certain sidelights which need to be corrected in future to avoid unnecessary confusion:
- Dasari Narayana Rao, one of the senior most directors of TFI, did not appear in any advertisements. His appearance only in the first half of the live program is a clear lapse.
- Akkineni family gave very little appearance. While Nagarjuna appeared in one interview type of performance, Akhil participated only in the stars cricket match.
- Mohan Babu and his sons Vishnu & Manoj could not find much appearance except in the kabaddi match for which Mohanbabu himself acted as the referee.
- NTR suffering from high temperature ensured his presence at least for the little time thus obtaining good marks. Prabhas’ guest appearance also invited criticism.
- Balayya & Venkatesh remained the only stars to participate in the program from the beginning till the end.
- Though Mahesh-Trivikram appeared in an interview (by Samantha), absence of superstar Krishna was clearly felt.
- While mega family appeared in the 2nd half of the program, Ramcharan restricted himself to the cricket match only. Pawan Kalyanhad kept him away from the function.
Megastar Chiranjeevi seems to be the ultimate beneficiary as he got multiple advantages for participating in the program till the end. He had some special talk with CM Chandrababu (might be having some political dialogues), he also utilised the stage as his launch pad for his 150th movie which he has been promising for quite some time.
