C S R Rao Selected as Corresponding Member of Australia Academy of Sciences
23.5.2015: C S R Rao, winner of Bharat Ratna award is selected as corresponding member of Australia Academy of Sciences. This was announced by Jawaharlal Centre for Advanced Scientific Research. He is the first scientist to be elected as member of this academy. Australia national university in Canberra also announced doctorate for Sri C S R Rao. He is presently working in JNCASR.
Founding father of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew is no more
23.5.2015: Lee Kuan Yew, founding father of Singapore passed away at the age of 91. He breathed his last at Singapore General Hospital. He was the first prime minister of Singapore. He is known as the architect of modern Singapore. Singapore government declared national mourning from 23rd to 29th March, 2015.
Malayalam Poet Yusuf Ali Kechery Passed Away
23.5.2015: Yusuf Ali Kechery, popular poet of Kerala passed away on March 21 in Kochi. He was 81. He was not only a Sanskrit scholar but also a poet, lyricist and film director. He directed his first film in 1973. He served as assistant secretary of Kerala Sangeetha Natak Academy. He won National Award for best lyricist; Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and also Kerala state Film Award three times.
Andhra Pradesh New Capital to be Named Amravati
23.3.2015: Andhra Pradesh government decided to name the new capital Amravati. Official announcement to this effect is expected soon. Meanwhile master plan for Andhra Pradesh capital construction is ready and chief minister Chandra Babu and his teteam iseaving for Singapore on March 29th to finalize the master plan. They come back to Hyderabad on 31st and the name will be announced after that. Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu will also accompany the CM to Singapore.
First Semi Final Match Between South Africa and New Zealand in Auckland on March 24, 2015
23.3.2015: The first semi final match in world cup 2015 tourney will be played between South Africa and New Zealand on 24th March at Auckland. Both the teams did not pass the semi final stage till now. New Zealand team was knocked out before finals six times and South Africa thrice. Both the teams did not reach the finals of World Cup tourney even once.
