Arun Singh Appointed as Indian Ambassador to US
2.3.2015: Arun Singh is appointed as new Indian ambassador to US. Presently he is in Paris. S Jaishankar is presently the Ambassador in US and he is appointed as foreign secretary. Amar Singh is an IFS officer from 1979 batch. He served as Israel ambassador from 2005 to 2008 and also as deputy chief of mission in Washington from 2008 to 2013. He was appointed as ambassador to France in 2013.
Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohambawon Mo Ibrahim Prize for the year 2014
2.3.2015: Namibian president Hifikepunye Pohamba won Mo Ibrahim Prize for 2014 which is the most valuable individual award. Hifikepunye is an outgoing president and will be succeeded by Hage Geingob. Mo Ibrahim prize for African leadership is an individual award that carried 5 million dollar award.
Mukesh Ambani Tops Forbes Richest Indians List for the eighth Time
2.3.2015: Forbes released the world’s richest persons list for the year 2015 and there are 90 Indian in the list. Mukesh Ambani topped the Indian Billionaires list for the eighth time in a row. His net worth is 2,100 crore dollars. His position in global list is 39. Other Indians in the list include Dilip Singhvi, Azeem Prem, Hinduja brother, Lakshmi Mittal and Anil Ambani. The international list is once again topped by Microsoft head Bill Gates.
Jagmohan Dalmiya is New BCCI Chief
2.3.2015: Jagmohan Dalmiya is unanimously elected as new chief of Board of Cricket Control of India. He was the chief of BCCI a decade ago and faced criticism from all sides. He was out of site with the entry of Srinivasan and now with made his re-entry. Srinivasan is away from BCCI election due to IPL controversy. Ex union minister and NCP president Sharad Pawar was also in the race of BCCI chief. Yesterday was the last day for filing nomination for BCCI post and only Dalmiya filed nomination. With this BCCI AGM announced yesterday in Chennai that Dalmiya is unanimously elected.
Ola Cabs Acquires Taxi for Sure
2.3.2015: Ola Cabs purchased Taxi For Sure for $200 mn. The value of this agreement in Indian currency is Rs. 1,240 cores. Ola Co-founder and CEO Bhavish Agarwal informed that acquisition of Taxi For Sure was done to bring revolutionary changes in urban mobility. Ola cabs have 1700 employees now and the CEO said that they are happy to work with Taxi for Sure.
Allu Arjun is Roped in as Brand Ambassador of Hero MotoCorp
Hero MotoCorp roped in popular Telugu hero Allu Arjun as their brand ambassador. Company sources informed that he was chosen keeping his popularity in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala in view. Hero is going to launch new premier Glamour TVS bike in the end of this week. This is a 125 cc bike and will come with latest features.
