Mobile World Congress 2015: ZTE Unveils Grand S3 with 3 GB RAM, 16 GB Primary Camera and Eye-Based Biometric Solution

ZTE unveiled a new handset at Mobile World Congress 2015 at Barcelona. The handset is dubbed at Grand S3 and is the first smartphone to feature eye-based biometric solution. The handset can be purchased in China for a price of CNY 2,999. We are yet to know about global availability of the handset.

Barcelona: ZTE Grand S3 sports 5.5 inch display with 108 x 1920 pixel resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor whose clock speed is 2.5 GHz. The processor is paired with 3 GB RAM and internal storage provided with 16 GB. Memory can be expanded up to 64 GB via micro SD. The handset comes equipped with 16 megapixel primary camera and there is also 8 megapixel front facing camera on board. It comes out of the box with Android 4.4Kitkat operating system. The handset supports WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G connectivity. Other features of this dual SIM smartphone are FM radio, micro USB charging and 3.5 mm audio jack. Battery under the hood is 3100 mAh.

ZTE said about the eye-based biometric solution that ‘Vein patterns in the human eye are utilized to unlock the handset’. The company also added that all its upcoming Grand handsets will feature this technology. Other highlights of the handset are the 3 GB RAM, 16 megapixel primary camera and the 8 megapixel front facing camera.
