Sony launched a new handset in Japan which is going to be available with NTT DoCoMo from April 20. Dubbed as Sony Xperia J1 this is offered with a price tag of JPY 59,184. Pre orders will start from March 27.

Tokyo: Sony Xperia J1 Compact sports 4.3 inch display and the resolution is 720 x 1280 pixels. It is powered by quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor whose clock speed is 2.2 GHz. The processor is paired with 2 GB RAM and is provided with 16 GB internal storage. Memory can be expanded via micro SD. It runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system. The handset supports Bluetooth, 3G and WiFi connectivity. Highlight of the device is the 207 megapixel primary camera and there is also 2.2 megapixel front facing camera on board. It comes packed with 2300 mAh battery under the hood.

Sony Xperia J1 Compact is the first SIM free smartphone. Sony said “ this is the first LTE communication Play Slim device with Mobile Virtual Network Operator support that provides voice calls plans on NTT DoCoMo tailored to consumer needs”. The handset also comes with dust and water resistant capabilities. Specifications of the upcoming handset are similar to Xperia 2 smartphone that was introduced in May, 2014.
