19.05.2015: Prestigious Top Civilian Supervisor of the year 2015 award is won by Indian-American Policeman Harkeert Singh Saini. This award was given to him for his services to Houston police department in Texas in United States. The award was presented to him by police Chief Charles A McClelland. Saini is from Punjab, India.
Piaggio Launched First Online Store in India to sell Vespa Scooters
19.05.2015: Italy’s bike manufacturing company Piaggio launched its first online store in India. For this Piaggio signed an agreement with Snapdeal. All Vespa series scooters will be made available in this special brand store and the scooters can be booked with a single click. Presently youth prefer online shopping and thus the online store is launched to allow them to make quick purchase, said Sanjeev Goel, vehicles executive vice president. Vespa scooters can be purchased from Snapdeal with a booking charge of Rs. 5,000.
Mumbai Indians Confirms Play-Off Berth in IPL-8
19.05.2015: Mumbai Indians stormed into finals of IPL – 8 by defeating Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier match played at Mumbai. Mumbai scored 187 for six wickets and Chennai could only score 162 runs and lost all the wickets. Except Duplessis, no other batsmen played a good innings. Pollard was given the man of the match award. The second qualifier match will be played between Chennai and the winner of Bangalore-Rajasthan match.
Maria Sharapova Wins Italian Tennis Open women’s Singles Title
19.05.2015: Russia’s Maria Sharapova won the women’s single title of Italian Tennis Open. This is the third time that the player won the Italian open. She defeated Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro in the final match. Italian open is considered the most prestigious tournament in the world after French Open.
Himachal Pradesh to Host Paragliding World Cup 2015
19.05.2015: Paragliding world cup which is scheduled to be held from October 23rd to October 31st, 2015 will be hosted by Himachal Pradesh at Kangra Valley. The cup is sponsored by Para-gliding world cup association, France. This is the first time that India is hosting this world cup. More than fifty countries are going to participate in this.
