Mukesh Khanna is the New Chairman of Children’s Film Society of India
30.04.2015: Actor, Producer Mukesh Khanna is appointed as the new chairman of Children’s Film Society of India. The appointment was made by Information and Broadcasting Ministry. He will succeed Amole Gupte. Mukesh Khanna is popular for his role in Shaktimaan. The CFSI is founded in 1955 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Dr. Pramod Patil and Dr. Ananda Kumar won Whitley Award 2015
30.04.2015: Whitley award 2015 is won by Pramod Patil and Ananda Kumar for their contribution to wildlife conservation. DR Pramod Patil worked hard to protect Indian Bustard in Thar Desert for which he won the award. Dr Ananda Kumar developed innovative communication system Elephant Information Network. Whitely award was initiated by Edward Whitely in 1994.
Georgia Won the Women’s World Team Chess Championship
30.4.2015: Georgia won the Women’s World Team Chess Championship by defeating Russia. Russia won the silver medal and China won the Bronze medal. The championship was held in China. Mariya Muzychuk was declared the world champion 2015.
Singer Jack Ely Passed Away
30.4.2015: Singer Jack Ely, popular for his hit song Louie Louie passed away at the age of 71. He is a singer and guitarist belonging to America. He is the lead singer of Kingsmen which was established by him in 1959.
Malala Yousafzai Attackers Jailed for 10 Years
30.4.2015: The ten men who attacked Malala in 2012 when she was just 15 were jailed for ten years by a Pakistani court. The attackers shot in the head of Malala. Malala who survived was awarded Nobel Peace Prize for campaigning for children’s rights in 2014.
e-Tourist Visa Extended to 31 More Countries
30.4.2015: France and Canada are among the 31 countries for which India will provide e-Tourist Visa. This will enable the tourists from these countries to enter India easily. E-Tourist Visa was launched by India in 2014 for forty five countries. Total numbers of countries that are included in this scheme now are 76.
