Sudan President Omar al-Bashir to be Arrested
14.06.2015: International Criminal Court called to arrest Sudan President Omar al-Bashir. Bashir is wanted in alleged war crimes and also crimes against humanity during Darfur Conflict in 2003. He reportedly arrived in Johannesburg and the court called for South Africa to arrest him.
Shiela Kaul Passed Away
14.06.2015: Shiela Kaul who was the former union minister passed away at the age of 100.She passed away in a hospital due to brief illness. She worked as a member of Parliament for five times. She also served as governor of Himachal Pradesh. She is the sister-in-law of Jawaharlal Nehru. She was also the oldest surviving former parliamentarian. She was born in 1915 and graduated from Lahore women’s college. She is survived by sons and a daughter.
World Blood Donor Day Observed
14.06.2015: June 14th of every year is observed as World Blood Donor Day. This is to raise awareness about the need for donating blood. Blood donor day is one of the eight WHO official global public health campaigns. Theme of 2015 World Blood Donor Day is ‘Thank you for saving my life’.
Andhra Pradesh Launches Digital Depository of Land Records
14.06.2015: Andhra Pradesh government launched digital depository of land record named as ‘Mee Bhoomi’. Mee Bhoomi lists the details of the lands such as owners, assessments, soil type, liabilities and crops grown. The website will also list the details of survey number. An Android app is also launched for this mobile friendly portal.
BSNL to start Free Roaming from June 15, 2015
14.06.2015: BSNL will launch free roaming that will allow BSNL customers to receive incoming calls at no calls across the country. There will be no need to carry multiple SIMs during roaming. The customers need also not worry about roaming charges.
Indian Student Killed in US
14.06.2015: An Indian student is shot dead in US by unidentified gunman. Sai Kiran Goud from Hyderabad is said to be killed in Miami, Florida. The 21 year old is suspected to be killed by robbers when he refused to give away his iPhone. Sai was in US to pursue his masters in Miami.
