18.10.2015: Shrihari Aney, senior lawyer is appointed as the new advocate general of Maharashtra. Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh was given the temporary charge of advocate general four months ago when AG Sunil Manohar resigned.
Kamal Thapa, Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Comes to India
18.10.2015: Deputy prime minister of Nepal, Kamal Thapa is in Delhi to have talks with external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj. He visited India for the first time after taking charge as deputy prime minister of India.
Kailash Satyarthi Receives Harvard Humanitarian Award
18.10.2015: Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel peace prize winner received the prestigious Harvard Humanitarian award from prestigious university Harvard. He was conferred with the award for his contribution to cause of child rights. The award is given every year to persons who work towards improving the quality of life. He is the first Indian to receive the award.
IPL 9 to Feature Eight Teams
18.10.2015: Indian Premier League 9th edition is scheduled for next year and it will feature eight teams. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals franchisee teams were suspended for two years. And two new sides will replace them. The tenders will be floated by Indian cricket board to add two new teams for two year term.
IDRBT Award for Karur Vysya Bank
18.10.2015: Karur Vysya Bank bagged the best bank award for business intelligence initiatives. The award was received by K Venkataraman, managing director and chief executive of the banks from Rahuram G Rajan, Governor of Reserve Bank of India. The Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology Excellence Award was given for the year 20143 – 14. The bank received the year for the sixth year.
5% Reservations for Gujjars and other SBCs in Gujarat
18.10.2015: Specific Classes Rajasthan Act 2015 that allows 5% reservation in jobs and educational institutions took effect from October 16th in Rajasthan state. 5% reservation is allowed under this act for Gujjars, Raibari Gadiya Lohar and Banjara Communities. Rajasthan government issued notification regarding this.
