1.11.2015: Navtej Singh Sarna is the next high commissioner to Britain. He will succeed Mr Ranjan Mathai. He belongs to Indian Foreign Service 1980 batch. He is presently the Secretary West, in External Affairs Ministry.
Air Marshal Virender Mohan Khannais the new Air Officer-in-charge Maintenance
1.11.2015: Air Marshal Virender Mohan Khanna took over as the new Air Officer in Charge Maintenance at Air Headquarters. He has 38 years of experience and served in different positions such as Director General, Assistance Chief of Air Staff Engg, Senior Maintenance Staff Officer and so on. Khanna received Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for his service.
Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis won the Ninth Title this Year
1.11.2015: Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis, the Indo-Swiss duo won the WTA Finals Women’s Double trophy. This is the ninth title for the due in this year. The titles won by them this year are Wimbledon, US Open, Indian Wells, Miami Open, Charleston Open, Guangzhou Open, Wuhan Open, China Open and WTA Tour Championships.
World Vegan Day Observed on November 1
1.11.2015: 1st November of every year is observed as World Vegan Day. This day is being observed since 1994. The day was proposed by the president and chair of Vegan Society, UK n the 50th anniversary of the society. 2014 was the 70th anniversary of The Vegan society.
Indian Railways Launched Vikalp Scheme
1.11.2015: Indian railway launched a new scheme Vikalp. Under this scheme railway passengers who book their tickets online can opt for confirmed accommodation in alternative train if their reservation is in waiting list. The scheme will be first introduced for passengers in the route Delhi-Lucknow and Delhi and Jammu.
Simlipal National Park and Tiger Reserve Reopened for Tourists
1.11.2015: Simlipal National Park and Tiger Reserve in Odhisha which is closed every year during mason is reopened for tourists now. This is the largest Tiger reservoir in Odhisha. The tiger reservoir which is closed during mansoon season is reopened in October and November.
