Nintendo Wii U Records Good Sales in US: Hardware Problems of Wii U
London: Nintendo launched the WII U console in United States on 18th November, 2012. Wii U is a gaming device and also supports online connectivity. Social network sites can also be accessed using it. Though the launch of Wii U promises world class living room entertainment, immediately after its launch, hardware problems and shortage of supplies are reported.
Wii U which is launched by Nintendo comes with a controller that looks like a tablet. It also comes equipped with HD graphics and many other on demand video services. The package of Wii U basic pack comes with 8GB hard drive, and Deluxe and Premium packages are also offered. These both come with 32 GB hard drive and launch Nintendo Land, the launch title copy.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwat informed in the beginning of 2012 that the production of Wii U console began only in summer and so there are not enough stocks this year. Fans that are looking to buy the product may get frustrated due to non availability of stocks. GameStop, Walmart and BestBuy are already running out of stock.
Apart from shortage of stock, there are reports about other issues with Wii U console. Immediately after switching on the console the consumer need to download filmware which takes more than one hour for downloading from internet. The filmware is 5GB large. there are also issues relating to Wi-Fi configuration and HDMI output failures. Few problems like these are common when game consoles are launched. There were some problems for Sony PS3 and the launch was delayed because of Blu-Ray process. Red Ring of Death hardware fault was the problem for Microsoft Xbox 360.
The positive points of Wii U are that on the launching day itself, 29 games were available. Few new versions available are the Fifa 13, Assassing’s Creed III and Batman Arkham city. Super Mario Bros U is also available. Nintendo which is the business of gaming since a very long time had a great success with the earlier version of Wii. Since a couple of years the company’s sales were falling due to entry of competitors such as Microsoft, Sony that introduced their games and Playstation Move and Microsoft Kinect etc. Wii U is also going to be launched in Japan and UK. The company is looking to sort out all teething problems of Wii U for a smooth start in these countries.
