Canvas HD: The Latest Phablet Launched by Micromax
NEW DELHI: Micromax is going to launch a new Phablet- the android phones with a screen size of over five inches- called CANVAS HD A116 for the Indian market. It is likely to be available in the first week of February for people whose budget is below Rs. 15,000.
Micromax, who urges that it has imported more Phablets than Samsung in the last three months. At an event which marked the launch of Canvas HD, the company claimed it has shipped over 1.98 lakh phablets in India in the last three months of 2012. On the other hand, it also said that Samsung shipped around 1.89 lakh Galaxy tablets during the same time frame. Micromax also said it will launch over 30 Smartphones this year.
Micromax Canvas HD has over 5 inches of screen size and a resolution of 720P, making it a favorable choice for Phablet Consumers who thinks the products of Samsung or HTC a bit of overpriced. Whereas Canvas HD has an astonishing low price tag for the features it comprises. It has a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor manufactured by MediaTek MT6589, PowerVR SGX5 GPU, dual-SIM functionality, 1 GB RAM, 8 mega pixel Camera with LED flash, 0.3 mega pixel front facing camera and internal memory of 4 GB with support for up to 32 GB of Micro SD cards. Connections are maintained by 3G GSM, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS. The battery capacity is 2,100mAh. The device runs on Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean (upgradable to 4.2). It is termed as a successor of Micromax Canvas 2 A110. Some may complain about the quad-core processor not being on par with the quad-core processors offered by the Smartphones other companies, but it is sufficient enough to take care of the work load.
Deepak Mehrotra, CEO, Micromax, asserted about the tremendous response that Canvas 2 is getting in India and it has made Micromax as the number one player in Phablet category. He also told that he wishes similar responses for Canvas HD from Indian markets and added that the company will take pre-orders for Canvas HD after Republic Day.
