Duke 360, The First Indian made bike on US streets – KTM plans to unveil Duke in India by end of 2013
New Delhi: The global automotive giant KTM is looking forward to unveil on road bikes in the United States market with the active participation of the partner, Bajaj Autos India. KTM AG has been selling off road bikes in the US market since long time and now the proposal to enter the on road category has been taken up by the Austrian company.
A team of skilled engineers from Bajaj and KTM have developed a high standard variant of performance bikes which is going to be produced in Indian plants soon. Though the concept of the brand new Duke 390 has been developed in Austria, the production is likely to be done at the Chakan Plant near Pune in collaboration with the Indian automotive giant Bajaj. KTM has successfully sold two variants Duke 200 and Duke 125 earlier in the European market and as well as the other markets too. But these were produced in Indian plants and were exported to the respective markets.
As per the information by Business Standard, the Chief Executive Officer of the KTM AG Mr. Stefan Pierer stated “It is s strategic decision with Bajaj to go for sporty, stylish motorcycles, even for the saturated markets, because cars have become too expensive. We are entering the US street bike segment for the first time and, beginning next year, the Duke 390, built in India, would be sold in the US market. These small displacement street bikes are ideal for urban commuting, especially in saturated markets like the US and Europe”.
Now KTM is planning to have a breakthrough in the American market with the help of Bajaj by introducing the Duke 390. KTM is likely to start sale of Duke 390 in the European market by the middle of this year and is also planning to launch the same in India by the end of this year.
Duke 360 will be the first bike to be manufactured in Indian and to be exported to the United States market.
