Rs. 2500 crores to be spent by Honda in India by end of 2014 – Amaze Sedan to deliver 25.8 kmpl*
New Delhi: Honda has making some revolutionary moves this year in the Indian market which are expected to take the revenue of the manufacturer to remarkable heights.
It has already been announced about the launch of the most awaited Amaze sedan in the Indian market and there is no doubt about the sale volume of the model in the domestic market. A large number Indian customers are waiting to have a ride in Honda’s first ever diesel car for India. Due to the increasing fuel prices in the Indian market, demand for the diesel powered and fuel efficient vehicles has increased enormously.
The most significant feature of the Amaze sedan is the massive 25.8 kmpl mileage which has almost amazed the customers as well as automotive experts of the country. It is going to be equipped with a 1.5 liter diesel engine and it is one of the most fuel efficient four wheelers in the Indian market till date. Keeping in mind about the expected hike in the sale volume with the launch of Amaze sedan and few future models, Honda has decided to increase the production capabilities.
The Japanese automotive giant has announced that they are looking forward to invest a massive sum of around Rs. 2500 crores by the end of next year in India. The Tapukara plant is going to be upgraded with additional capabilities with the investments and it will become one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the country. Honda has decided to set up a car assembly line, a forging plant and a diesel engine component unit at the plant.
Mr. Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, the Chief Executive of the Honda Motor India has been given the charge of “Representative of Development, Purchasing and Production in Asia and Oceania Region”. He is also the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Honda Motor India. He has stated in connection with the announcement “To expand our business in the country, we are starting our preparations to create new capacity and are investing a total of Rs. 2500 crore towards setting up of a new assembly line for cars, a new diesel engine component production line and a forging plant at Tapukara in Rajasthan”.
