Tata Nano CNG to be unveiled in March, 2014 instead of October, 2013?
Tata Motors, one of the leading Indian car maker has taken a revolutionary step by unveiling the ‘Common Man’s Car Nano. Nano is a humongous success in the Indian market and all the other variants unveiled later also resulted into successful models. Apart from the various trims of Nano offered by Tata with both petrol as well as diesel engines, the upcoming CNG variant seems to be the hot favorite for Indian buyers.
The fuel prices in India are increasing enormously day after day and thus mileage is always the most significant factor for an average buyer. Nano can be afforded for an absolutely cheaper price tag than any other four wheelers in the market currently and it assures great fuel efficiency. Tata has already revealed earlier this year that a diesel as well as a CNG variant of the Nano will be launched very soon. But the manufacturer has not confirmed the launch schedule so far and now it is informed that Tata is planning to launch the CNG variant of Nano in the month of March next year.
Earlier it was informed that the new Nano CNG will be equipped with a 624 cc 2 cylinder engine with multi point fuel injection. But as per Car Trade, the upcoming Nano CMG will be fitted with an 800 CC 3 cylinder turbo changed engine that has been used by Tata to power the DICOR. The overall weight of the Nano is going to be increased considerably in the CNG version due to the addition of heavy CNG kit. 2 CNG cylinders will be included in the Nano CNG that will increase the total weight to 735 kilograms which is around 100 kg heavier than base variant.
A spokesperson from Tata Motors has stated in connection with the launch of Nano CNG “We are well on track with our scheduled launch of the Tata Nano CNG as yet another innovative product from the company. The product was unveiled in June 2013 and is scheduled to be in the market by October 2013. There have not been any changes to our plans as we gear up for the market launch”, as per Financial Express.
