Will Volkswagen Cross Polo make the living difficult for Renault Duster and Ford Eco Sport?
New Delhi: The leading premium car maker Volkswagen has recently unveiled the Polo GT batch back in the Indian market which has been a huge success and now the manufacturer is likely to launch a sportier version of the same Polo hatch back which has been a bug success overseas.
Rumors about the model being launched in Indian have been heard from past several months and test mule of the model has also been spied several times on Indian roads. Finally, we are provided with information that Volkswagen may launch the off road version of the Polo which will be dubbed as Cross Polo in the month of this August. There has not been any announcement from the manufacturer officially but sources revealed that the launch might get scheduled in the upcoming August.
The Cross Polo is basically an off road compact car which is specially designed for adventures far away from the smoother roads. The vehicle is comparatively having more height and also more ground clearance than the previous versions. The height of the vehicle is around 14mm more than the Polo GT which makes it a perfect companion for off road rides. The 17 inch alloy wheels with five spokes it easier to pass through some of the complex tracks. Black colored plastic moldings have been offered for all the four wheels in Cross Polo.
Volkswagen is likely to equip the brand new Cross Polo with a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder diesel engine that has been used in the Polo GT TDI version which was launched earlier. But it was also reported that Volkswagen may continue with the sale 1.5 liter TSI petrol engine that has been used in the Polo GT which is capable of boosting around 105 bhp of power at the peak.
Volkswagen is reported to be unveiling the brand new Cross Polo in the Nepal market by the end of this September. As an exclusive version, Cross Polo is going to be costlier than the earlier version for no doubt. The price of Cross Polo is expected to be around Rs. 7 lakhs in the Indian market.
