Choose the best SUV in India 2013 - Ford EcoSport VS Renault Duster
The SUV segment of the Indian market has just started heating up as the leading automotive makers of India are unveiling new efficient models simultaneously. As all the models have their own significance, it would be difficult for a buyer to choose one among them and to make it easy, let us two most promising SUVs that have entered Indian market recently.
Engine and Transmission
Ford Eco Sport is the most discussed model in the Indian market this year and it has dragged the attention of buyers prior to the launch itself. The base variant of the Eco Sport comes fitted with a 1498 CC 4 cylinder diesel engine that is capable of generating around 91 PS of power at the peak along with 204 Nm of torque. The engine comes accompanied with a 5 speed manual transmission gear box. Renault has powered the Duster SUV with a 1461 CC 4 cylinder in line diesel engine that can produce around 85 PS of power as maximum along with 200 Nm of torque. Engine is accompanied with a 6 speed manual transmission gear box.
Features and Safety Measures
When it comes to the security standards, Ford Eco Sport beats down the Renault Duster. A wide number of safety measures have been provided by Ford which are absent in Renault’s Duster which is a considerable drawback for the model. Eco Sport comes with ABS, 2 air bags in the front, Engine immobilizer for prevention of theft, Remote central locking system, fog lamps for better vision in bad weather, rear defogger and etc. Renault Duster lacks the air bags, ABS, EBD and even fog lamps.
However, it comes with remote central locking system and engine immobilizer. Rear parking sensors have been offered with both the models as standard. Ford is offering upgraded music system consisting of 4 speakers as default with the Eco Sport whereas music system should be purchased additionally in case of Renault Duster. Eco Sport also comes with audio controls mounted to the steering wheel which cannot be availed with Duster.
Mileage and Price:
Ford Eco Sport diesel variants are offering mileage of 22.7 kilometers per liter whereas Renault’s Duster diesel variants are offering mileage of around 20 kilometers per liter. Renault is offering Duster variants in the price range of Rs. 7.99 lakhs to Rs. 12.18 lakhs whereas Ford is offering Eco Sport variants in the price range of Rs. 5.82 lakhs to Rs. 9.37 lakhs only.
