Volkswagen launched ‘New Jetta’ for Rs. 13.7 lakhs – Will New Jetta be a problem for Skoda Octavia 2013?
Volkswagen India has unveiled a brand new sedan that is expected to give the manufacturer a steak growth in sales by the end of this calendar year. The launch event has been held on Wednesday and experts from the market have appreciated the new breed from the German automotive giant.
Mr. Arvind Saxena, the Managing Director for the Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has launched the model and he has stated in this regard “We are sure that the new Jetta, with its range of petrol and diesel engine options and optional 6 speed DSG automatic transmission, will offer a delightful driving experience for premium segment car buyers in the Indian market. With the festive season well underway, Volkswagen now has a full line up of new and updated cars for the Indian market, starting from the new versions of the Polo – Cross Polo, Polo GT TSI and Polo GT TDI, Vento TSI, and now, the new Jetta. We are sure new car buyers across all segments will find our new range of cars exciting.”
The new Jetta is being offered in both petrol as well as diesel versions and 6 distinct trims of the model are offered for the Indian buyers. The petrol variants come fitted with a 1.4 liter TSI engine that is capable of generating around 122 PS of power at the peak along with 200 Nm of torque which is far less than the output produced by the same engine in the new Octavia where it produces 140 PS at the peak along with 250 Nm torque. A 6 speed manula transmission gear box comes as standard in all the petrol trims of the new Jetta.
The diesel version of the new Jetta is powered with 2.0 liter TDI engine that generates 140 PS of power at the peak along with 320 Nm of torque. Buyer can choose from a 6 speed manual transmission and a 6 speed DSG automatic transmission gear box for the diesel version. Petrol variants of New Jetta promises mileage of 14.69 kmpl whereas the automatic diesel variant delivers 16.96 kmpl mileage and the manual transmission diesel variant delivers 19.33 kmpl mileage. Volkswagen has priced all variants of the new Jetta sedan in the range of Rs. 13.7 lakhs to Rs. 19.43 lakhs only.
