Hyundai i10 based Sedan spotted – Might compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo CS and Honda Amaze
The rumour about Hyundai Motors India developing a new compact sedan basing on the Grand I 10 hatch back has reached the country a few days ago and to strengthen it, a prototype of the respective model has been spotted on the high way from Chennai to Vellore. Grand i10 hatch back was a bang in the Indian market this year and we could imagine how huge the demand for i10 sedan is going to be.
As we can observe from the respective set of spy images that were revealed over web by the enthusiast, there are a lot of similarities between the prototype and i10 hatch back. The roof line of the test mule is almost same as that of the hatch back’s but the test mule was covered in heavy camouflage which made it difficult for us to notice some more specs of it. The vehicle was being tested near Hyundai’s manufacturing plant and it is reported to be the first test mule of the model.
Hyundai is likely to adopt the engine options for the upcoming i10 sedan from the recently unveiled Grand i10 and the i20 hatch back 2013. The sedan may be offered in both petrol as well as in diesel versions most probably. The petrol; variant may get fitted with a 1.2 litre Kappa engine that is capable of generating around 81 bhp at the peak along with 114 Nm of torque. The engine may get accompanied with a 5 speed manual transmission gear box mostly otherwise Hyundai may choose a four speed automatic transmission gear box.
The diesel version of the upcoming i10 sedan will get a 1.4 litre diesel engine adopted from the i20 diesel which is capable of generating around 89 bhp at the peak along with 219 Nm of torque. Engine might get accompanied with a 6 speed manual transmission gear box as standard. We may expect the official debut of the i10 sedan to get scheduled by the end of 2014 and it is expected to get priced between Verna and i20.
