Chevrolet ‘Beat Facelift’ aka ‘Spark’ spotted – 1.0L petrol engine to tackle Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Swift
General Motors has launched the next gen Chevrolet Beat Facelift at the Paris Auto Show 2012 for the first time. The manufacturer has not yet confirmed the Indian debut of the model and there was no buzz at all. To the surprise of all, two test units wearing some camouflage on them were seen roaming near Pune which are later recognized as the Facelift edition units of the Chevrolet Beat hatchback. Though officially unconfirmed, We could expect the brand new Chevrolet Beat Facelift to get show cased at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo.
When compared with the variants already launched officially, the respective test mules spotted have slight changes cosmetically. The shape of the front bumper as well as the front grille are different when compared with the former edition. But we are not sure whether Chevrolet would dub the model into the market as ‘Spark’ or not. The Facelift edition Beat has been launched as ‘Spark’ in European market as well as in some other markets globally. The respective test mules also sports full alloy wheels which were not offered with former editions.
Chevrolet would launch the Beat Facelift in both petrol as well as in the diesel versions most probably. Spark is available in the European market with a 1.0 litre petrol engine currently and the manufacturer might launch the same in India. The base variant of the model sports a 1.2 litre petrol engine which is capable of generating around 85 PS at the peak. The diesel version carries a 1.0 litre diesel engine that produces around 59 PS at the peak very comfortably. A 5 speed manual transmission gear box is expected to be offered as the only choice with all the variants of the upcoming Beat Facelift.
Apart from the cosmetic changes on the exterior, we could also expect the model to get new interior and a revised dashboard. Some technical upgrades may also be seen along with addition of few new features. We could expect the Beat Facelift to be much quicker, comfortable and efficient than the former edition. Let us hope we could see the brand new Chevrolet Beat Facelift at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo…
