New President of Indian Meteorological Society is Akhilesh Gupta
13.03.2014: New President of Indian Meteorological Society is Akhilesh Gupta. He will survive in this position for the period of 2 years. Gupta is the youngest one to take this position. He is 50 years old. Society was established in 1956. It is non profit organisation which promotes application of meteorology and related sciences, dissemination of Knowledge, promotes the advancement.
Hamied quits from Cipla as Executive Vice Chairman
13.03.2014: Hamied will quit from Cipla as Executive Vice Chairman. Board of directors approved his retirement. He will hold the office till 31st March 2014.
Chairman of UIDAI resigned
13.03.2014: Chairman of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) is Nandan Nilekani. He resigned for his position. He was the co-founder of Infosys. In 2007 he left the company and taken charges as chairman of UIDAI. On 10th March 2014, he entered into politics and joined congress party. Nandan is contesting from Bangalore South constituency in Lok Sabha Polls.

India Joined global search for Malaysian aircraft by deploying 3 warships
13.03.2014: India had deployed 3 warships and 4 surveillance aircrafts to search for Malaysian aircraft. Aircrafts included in this search is Latest P – 8I anti submarine warfare plane.
Trade related remittance limited increased by RBI
13.03.2014: Trade related remittance limited increased by RBI. Remittance limit increased from Rs.2 lakhs to Rs.5 lakhs per each transaction. Number of transactions handled by exchange houses is also increased. This decision was taken to review the permitted transactions RDAs (Rupee Drawing Arrangements).
Ban on oil giant BP lifted by United States
13.03.2014: Ban on oil giant BP lifted by United States as it is preventing from gaining new Government contracts. Ban has lifted following the commitment of the firm. It will implement a set of safety and operations, corporate governance requirements and ethics & compliance. EPAs (United States Environmental Protection Agency) have stated that firm will also drop its lawsuit against the US Environmental protection agency.
New Election law of Parliament of Syria approved unanimously
13.03.2014: New Election law of Parliament of Syria approved unanimously. This law allows multiple candidates to run for the post of President. As per the new law only Syrian nationals or persons who have lived in Syria for at least 10 consecutive years will have a right to run for the Presidential elections.
GoAir signed Memorandum of Understanding with Safran and Honeywell
13.03.2014: To support the advancement of EGTS electric taxing system, GoAir signed Memorandum of Understanding with Safran and Honeywell. This will help to save up to 4% block fuel consumption per flight. EGTS uses electric motors on the main landing gear that enables the aircraft to push back autonomously and taxi on the runway without using its main engines.
