India’s Matches at T20 World Cup 2014: First Match Against Pakistan on March 21

Team India wants to win T20 World Cup for the second time. Team India won T20 format first world cup in the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2007. But India failed to reach the finals of the next three T20 world cup tourneys.

Dhaka: India’s first match in T20 World cup 2014 is against Pakistan on March 21. India’s scheduled matches in T20 World Cup are as follows -

  • Against Pakistan in Mirpur on March 21 from 7.00 pm
  • Against West Indies on March 23 from 7.00 pm
  • Against one of the qualifiers on March 30 from 7.00 pm
  • Against Australia on March 30 from 7.00

Nepal, Hong Kong and UAE teams are getting ready to play their first T20 world cup. Qualifying matches will be played between eight teams. The top two teams in the groups will reach the main round. Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal and Hong Kong are in Group A. Zimbabwe, Ireland, UAE and Netherlands are in Group B. Top teams in the two groups will qualify for the second round and the remaining six teams will be out of the tourney.

There will be tough competition between the teams in T20 World Cup 2014. Since the tourney is in the sub-continent, few people are expecting that the teams belonging to Asia but the chances of other teams becoming champions cannot be ruled out. All the teams have players even in 8 and 9 places that can bat. Every team included all-rounders and have given importance to young players.

T20 World Cup 2014 mega tourney is a test for few members of Team India. The tourney is also a big challenge for Dhoni who is of late being criticized.

This is the fifth T20 World Cup after twenty-twenty format is introduced. Bangladesh is hosting the T20 world cup for the first time. India was the title winner in 2007. Pakistan won the second T20 world cup in 2009. Next world cup was held in 2010 and it was won by England. West Indies was the winner in 2012.
