Screen Shots Suggest Samsung, Verizon Working On Windows Phone

Images on a Twitter leak by the trusted @evleaks suggest that a Samsung-Verizon Windows phone is soon to hit the markets. The phone gained regulatory approval by FCC a few weeks ago. Tentatively called Samsung ATIV SE, the images are quite clear that it is a Windows phone. It will be the first of the devices to have Windows 8.1 pre-installed.

New York: Microsoft is expected to come out with the update on the Windows Phone very soon. As per the press shots, the phone will sport a 1080P display. The screen size could be between 4.3 to 5 inches. It will have the usual quad-core Snapdragon processor and additionally an Adreno 305 graphics processor. Sporting an unmistakable Samsung design and features, the smart phone is expected to support Verizon 4G LTE network. Another source guessed the phone to have a multicore 2.4 GHz processor and a 16 MP camera, with a 2 MP front camera as well.

Other phones known to be running on Windows Phone 8.1 are the upcoming Nokia Lumia 630/635. It is not a very well known fact that Samsung actually makes Windows Phones though not as frequently as its Android ones. It is over a year since Samsung and Verizon launched a Windows Phone. The last one was released in January 2013, called Samsung Ativ Odyssey. Another the ATIV S 18750 Windows Phone by Samsung is very much a version of the Korean company’s Android-based Galaxy S III.

Nokia has taken up a major share of the Windows Phone market in the US. Apart from the Odyssey, the only other Windows Phone that was launched last year was the Nokia Lumia 928 in May.

The Adreno 305 graphics processor will be very useful for gaming. As per a report from comScore, Samsung is second after Apple in the Android phone market share. It has a proven track record with its Galaxy series of smart phones. With this Windows phone its market share is likely to jump up. The new phone is expected to be unveiled in the next few months.
