Elections 2014: Why TDP+BJP Alliance Inviting Criticism From All Other Political Parties
TDP could clinch alliance with BJP for the coming elections. All political parties started criticizing this alliance.
Hyderabad: The much awaited alliance of TDP with BJP is finalized. This win-win proposal enables BJP to contest 8MP + 47 MLA seats in Telangana (out of total of 17 MP & 119 MLA seats) and in Seemandhra BJP would be contesting 5 MP & 15 MLA seats (out of total 27 MP & 175 MLA seats). Both the parties in alliance confirmed that this alliance has been formed due to political compulsions. Though the internal resistance (from both the parties) on this alliance is yet to settle down, all other parties started criticism on this alliance.
The first and foremost person to criticize this alliance is KCR from Telangana Rashtra Samithi. TRS has been flying high and rejected congress’ alliance proposals thinking that being the front runner in the T-movement it would be doing a clean sweep in the state. The strong cadre base of TDP combined with the BJP’s image to have ‘supported T-bill clearance’ would be a major hurdle for TRS plan of clean sweep. BJP is already having 3 MLA’s from this region and with the present Modi-wave through out the country (and in Telangana as well), it expects to improve its tally considerably.
Another critic of this alliance is Yechuri Seetaram from CPI. Communists are famous for criticizing all BJP deeds. Naturally, may be Seetaram Yechuri also followed similar precedence.
Congress’ leaders are criticizing this alliance mentioning that TDP is doing a historical mistake of joining NDA and foregoing its secular image. Now the onus lies on AP unit of congress which ran the government with AIMIM support till recently.
YSRCP criticized this alliance mentioning that TDP is not respecting the feelings of Seemandhra. They are projecting BJP as the party to ‘support T-bill clearance in Parliament’.
Already the TDP chief Chandrababu is in deep trouble with local leaders as he is required to accommodate migrants from other parties (including congress) and local TDP leaders are against allocating seats to new joiners. With the new alliance, some more seats of existing TDP leaders are going to be offered to BJP and hence the resistance from local TDP leaders.
BJP is facing different situation on this alliance. The Seemandhra unit is in favor of this alliance as BJP would be able to get respectable votes & seats with support of TDP. The Telangana unit of BJP is not in favor of this alliance as it wants to cash the pro-BJP mood in the Telangana state as well as Modi-wave throughout the country. But the Telangana BJP chief Kishan Reddy went on record that the unit would accept the central leadership instructions in this regard.
