Volkswagen reveals ‘Beetle GRC’ that sprints 0-100 kmph in just 2.1 sec ahead of Red Bull Global Rally Cross
Volkswagen is well known around the world for its luxurious and premium models so far. To the surprise of all, the German giant has announced about the launch of a sporty breed for the first time ever. The brand new Beetle GRC was displayed for the first time at the Chicago Motor Show 2014 held earlier this year and the production spec version of the model is yet to be revealed at the upcoming Red Bull Global Rally Cross this month. Astonishingly, the manufacturer has revealed the Beetle GRC officially prior to the debut at the Rally Cross
The brand new sportier hatch back is going to be driven by Tanner Foust and Scott Speed at the Red Bull Global Rally Cross, as per the information. The respective team has won the first two rounds of the event held before and the manufacturer is confident that the Beetle GRC could assure the team one more victory straight ahead. The rally car comes with an aggressive exterior design and it will carry a monster power hose which will sprint the vehicle to higher speeds at an unimaginable rate. The outer design of the model is highly aerodynamic and thus drag co efficient of the vehicle is very smaller when compared with other models of the same category. The front fascia of the model gets a bigger bumper with air vents and the hood also comes with facility for ventilation.
Wing mirrors are very smaller in size in order to reduce the drag and the manufacturer is also offering scoops on both the sides. A larger wing has been fitted on the rear 17 inch full alloy wheels are lighter and helps the vehicle attain speed very quickly. As per the information, Mr. Jost Capito, the Director for Volkswagen Motor Sport has stated in connection with the launch “After Volkswagen of America’s impressive start on the rally cross scene with the Polo, the launch of the new Beetle GRC rally cross car represents the next major mile stone. The Beetle boasts a unique appearance and state of the art technology. It will sweep fans off their feet”.
Beetle GRC is powered with a 1.6 litre turbo charged four cylinder TSI engine that could produce around 544 bhp at the peak. Engine comes mated with a 6 speed sequential transmission gear box as standard and the vehicle is going to feature all wheel drive system. As per the information, Beetle GRC is capable of attaining 100 kmph speed from rest within just 2.1 seconds only.
