Fiat Avventura launch by end of 2014 – 1.3L Multi Jet to beat Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Cross Polo

Fiat doesn’t have any crossover model in its line up so far and the demand for the cross over models is increasing from the past few months considerably. All the leading automotive giants are looking forward to come with their cross over models and Fiat is also going to join them. Some crossovers from rivals such as Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Cross Polo have already been launched in India and they have been received well by Indian buyers. Fiat is also hoping for a success straight ahead with the brand new ‘Avventura’ crossover which is developed basing on the Punto hatch back.

In order to make the upcoming crossover look different from the base hatch back Punto, Fiat has changed the exterior design of the model considerably. The respective proto type displayed at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo which was held in the month of February at Greater Noida is expected to remain same most probably but however, we may expect few modifications in the production ready version of the crossover. The front fascia of the crossover looks very different from that of Punto hatch back. The front grille has been replaced with a new honey comb inspired grille. The front bumper of the crossover is very sportier and a new set of head lamps adds to the elegance of the vehicle.

Avventura Crossover also comes with a set of LED fog lamps and a set of day time running LEDs on the front fascia. The rear end gets a new set of tail lamps and a spare wheel which comes mounted to the hatch door. Sportier side skirts and roof rails have been added to make it look like a perfect on road – off road friendly vehicle. As per the information, Fiat is likely to equip the upcoming crossover model with a set of projector head lamps most probably. We can expect the Avventura crossover to be offered both in petrol as well as in diesel versions in the Indian market.

There might be three distinct engine options available for the Indian buyers mostly. The base petrol variant of the Avventura Crossover is expected to be powered with a 1.2 litre petrol engine that could produce a maximum power of around 67 bhp and a maximum torque of around 97 Nm. A higher end petrol variant is also expected which could be equipped with a 1.4 litre petrol engine that can produce 75 bhp as maximum along with 197 Nm of torque. The base diesel variants is expected to be powered with a 1.3 litre Multi Jet Diesel engine that could produce 75 bhp at the peak whereas a higher end variant is also expected to get powered with the same engine but with a different tune to get 90 bhp at the peak. We can expect the brand new Fiat Avventura Crossover to reach the Indian dealerships by the end of this year.
