Delhi State Politics Heating Up

Delhi State Politics Heating Up

The state of Delhi is likely to go to polls to elect 70 MLA’s for its assembly and even before the notification the state politics are heating up.

New Delhi: Arvind Kezriwal once again getting projected as Chief Minister. AAP declared all the 70 contestants. Congress released its first list of candidates. BJP is busy announcing populous measures to woo the Delhi voters.

DELHI STATE SEEING HECTIC POLITICAL ACTIVITY

All this hectic political activity is seen in Delhi. Even before the Election Commission of India notified regarding the elections for the Delhi state assembly, all the 3 major contestants are busy finalizing their own strategies to win the elections.

For beginners, Kezriwal (from AAP) ruled the Delhi state as its CM for 49 days and resigned advising the Lieutenant Governor to dissolve the state assembly. The LG accepted resignation of Kezriwal but he kept the Delhi state assembly in suspended animation state. Subsequently the tenure of President’s rule in the state came to an end and the state is poised to go for elections.

AAP has been in the forefront for the Delhi state elections and declared its list containing all the 70 contestants. The party also projected its chief mentor Arvind Kezriwal as its CM candidate.

Congress had the practice of declaring its candidates only at the time of nominations. Deviating from the regular practice, the congress already declared its first list of 24 candidates. The party reposed confidence in the members of the Assembly that just got dissolved. Additionally the party is banking on the candidates who came as runners up in the earlier state elections.

Early declaration of the names of contestants, the congress party believes, will help the candidates actively and aggressively canvass and ensure success in the elections.

Before the start of election process, there are large scale defections. All the parties (AAP, BJP & congress) are facing this problem.

While AAP is banking on the charishma of Arvind Kezriwal (and he is the CM candidate as well), BJP is largely dependent on Modi-mania (they have not yet finalized their CM candidate). Congress, which is constantly losing its face in successive elections, is projecting ex-CM Shiela Dixit as its star campaigner.

We have to wait and see the real political activity on declaration of election process in the state by the Election Commission of India.
