Journalist Anurradha Prasad Honored with Pt. Haridutt Sharma Award
16.05.2015: Senior journalist is conferred with Pt. Haridutt Sharma award. She is the editor in chief of Hindi news channel News-24. The award is given every year by Pt. Haridutt Sharma Memorial Trust. Pt. Haridutt Sharma was an eminent writer and journalist. The awards carried cash prize of Rs. 51,000, trophy and souvenir.
Mohammed Morsi, Ousted President of Egypt Sentenced to Death
16.05.2015: The first freely elected president of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi, who was later ousted, is sentenced to death in a mass prison break that took place in the year 2011. He ordered to arrest the protestors when he is power and is already serving 20 year prison term for this.
ICICI Opens its First Branch in China
16.05.2015: Private sector bank of India, ICICI launched its first branch in China. It was launched by India Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on a visit to China. This will be very helpful for cross border business interests. Ms Chanda Kochchar, MD of ICICI said, the branch opened at Shanghai will allow them to play greater role in growing trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. The bank got approval to begin operations in Shanghai Branch in March, this year. The bank has representative offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh and UAE.
East Essence Tied up to Snapdeal
16.05.2015: Islamic Clothing company East Essence tied up with e-commerce portal Snapdeal. The company will launch its store on this portal in June this year. The company already has presence in 68 countries and wants the tie up to make India a global center of Islamic fashion. India has the second largest Muslim population in India and these are going to be potential consumers for the clothing company. The company set up a manufacturing unit in Noida to cater to the requirements of Indian market.
Bangalore Airport Signed Contract with IT Firm SITA
16.05.2015: Bangalore International Airport Limited signed a seven year contract with global aviation firm SITA. New Common Use Self Service kiosk platform using which the passengers can print their boarding passes and baggage tags. This facility will be implemented from June this year.
