New DIPP Secretary is Ramesh Abhishek
12.2.2016: Ramesh Abhishek is appointed the secretary of DIPP, an officer on special duty in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. He will succeed Amitabh Kant who is going to retire this month. Amitabh will be joining Niti Aayog as CEO. Ramesh Abhishek is the IAS officer of 1982 batch and is presently serving as the secretary in Cabinet secretariat.
New Vice Chairman of ICC is Davinder Singh
12.2.2013: Indian origin lawyer Davinder Singh is named the new vice chairman of International Chamber of Commerce Commission. Davinder Singh is 38 and one of the leading Indian origin lawyers in Singapore. He is the only one lawyer from Singapore to be appointed to ICC. Presently he is serving as the chief executive of Drew and Napier, a law firm in Singapore. He was also the Member of Parliament in Singapore from 1988 to 2006. ICC is a private sector world business organization based in Paris. It has more than 300 members from forty countries. These members are from trade association, law firms and multinational companies.
Asian Tour Golfer of the Year Award for Anirban Lahiri
12.2.2016: Anirban Lahiri won the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the year award. He is going to play Thongchai Jaidee in Thailand, Danny Chia in Malaysia and Miguel Tabuena tournament in Philippines. He finished 40th place in world rankings last year. He also features at The President Cup and is the first Indian to achieve this.
Team India Levels T20 Series with Lanka
12.2.2016: Team India recovered from the shock of losing the first T20 match in the hands of Sri Lanka. By winning the second T20 match in Ranchi, the team kept the chances of winning the series alive. India scored 196 runs by losing six wickets and restricted Lankans for 127 runs. Opener Dhawan who scored 51 runs in 25 balls with seven fours and two sizes is declared the man of the match. The last T20 match in the series is going to be played in Visakhapatnam on this Sunday.
