New Delhi: Automobile giants often pause for a moment while developing more and more number of traditional four wheel drive vehicles, and make some unique vehicles which make the world go amazed.

The team of creative engineers from Toyota did the same and has developed a unique electric powered three wheel vehicle which is claimed to be suited for the urban journeys. The brand new concept vehicle is going to be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show which is due to be held tomorrow.

The respective new concept vehicle from Toyota has been named as i-Road concept and it is expected to be unique thus will compete in technology with Nissan’s Land Glider, a four wheeler and BMW’s CLEVER. As the vehicle is fully electric, it can be treated as one of the most cost efficient and its ‘Active Lean’ technology makes it a perfect companion for urban roads.

i-Road is powered with a pair of electric motors that can produce 27 horsepower each and they run with a Lithium-ion battery which takes just three hours long for a single full charge when connected to a normal house power socket. Toyota claimed that i-Road can travel around 50 kilometers on a single charge which is enough for the regular journeys in the city from home. As the engine capacity is not massive, i-Road concept car can travel at maximum speed of just 43 kilometers per hour.

“Active Lean” is the most interesting and significant features of i-Road concept which makes the journey smoother. The vehicle consists of a computer which calculates how many degrees of angle the vehicle should bend on both sides as per the angle of the steering. Then it makes the frontal wheels go up and down as per the requirement. The system also stabilizes the lean during straight drives too when the surface of the road contains ups and downs. The system takes help of gyro scope to estimate the speed and other stats of the vehicle while moving.

There is no official announcement from Toyota about specs, price, and launch date etc. so far.
