Tata Motors may never launch the Nano diesel
Tata Motors is looking to revive the Nano but the same may not even see the light of the day according to the latest word on the street
New Delhi: Auto Show Delhi is going to be real block buster in 2014. Though the Expo has been postponed to the second month but there are several major launches slated during that period. the Koleos, the Scorpio facelift, and even the Fluence facelift will happen during that period But the one which creating buzz all over was the Tata Nano diesel. It is one of the important exhibiting participant in the upcoming auto expo.
One interesting car could be missing though. As per Cartoq, Tata motors is not likely to display the diesel powered Nano hatchback at Motor Show. The Nano Diesel might be launched separately later this year.
Tata Nano diesel has been actively involved since 2010 in the development Tata Nano Diesel which has achieved considerable stage. Market has observed fluctuating prices in petrol and diesel which has directly impacted increase in petrol cars, especially at the lower end of the market. Colossal increase of 30% in diesel rates has definitely dash against diesel cars. Also, the cost of a diesel engined Nano is said to be higher than the petrol and CNG versions of the Nano, a factor that could go against the car when diesel prices are fully deregulated. The exorbitant cost of the diesel engine is acting as another hurdle, turning out to be too expensive, especially in BS IV specification. If Tata Nano diesel is priced higher it will not justify its target audience. As a result Tata is reviewing launch of Tata Nano diesel in the Indian market.
Instead of the diesel powered Nano, Tata Motors will launch many other new variants of the Nano in the next couple of years. Tata Motors will exhibit the power steering equipped variant of the car called as the Nano Twist with additional features expected to be launched in India later this month.
Therefore Tata Nano Diesel Low Cost Car will not make its presence at the forthcoming Auto Show perhaps in Indian market too.
