India is Going to be Second Largest Smartphone Market by 2016 With 200 Million Smartphone Users
India is going to become the second largest smartphone market by surpassing United States of America. By 2016 India will become the largest smartphone market after China. According to e-Marketer, a research organization, this is because smartphones are now available for affordable prices.
New Delhi: Smartphone phones usage is increasing in developing countries are smartphones are now being offered for affordable prices. By 2016, more than 200 crores of smartphones will be in usage, said the latest report. Here are the other highlights in the report.
- Number of smartphone users in India will cross 20 crores by 2016. This is more than the number of smartphone users in America.
- By 2016, there will be 62.37 smartphone users in China. India will have 20.41 cores, America will have 19.85 users, 6.51 crore users will be there in Russia and number of smartphone users in Japan will be 6.12 cores.
- At present there are 51.97 crore smartphone users in China, 16.53 crores in America and 12.33 crores in India. Japan has 5.08 crores smartphone users now and in Russia, the number of smartphone users are 4.90 crores.
- By 2015, one fourth of total world’s population will become smartphone users. By 2018 this will further increase and one third of the total population will use smartphones. More than 256 crore people in the world use smartphone by 2018.
- It is estimated that by 2015, number of smartphone users across the world will be 191 crores. In 2016, this will further increase and reach 216 crores.
- Number of smartphone users crosses the 100 crores mark for the first time in 2013. 131 crores world population became smartphone users then. Among these 43.61 crore were from China, American smartphone users were 14.39, 7.60 crores were from India, 4.05 crores in Japan and the number of smartphone users in Russia were 3.58 crores.
e-marketer mentioned that affordable price of smartphones are helping for the growth market and e-commerce sectors. Most of the world population are now using internet easily and this is the same situation in all the developing countries. Earlier there were no opportunity for the consumers in emerging markets to access the internet but now with internet users increasing, they are accessing the e-commerce sites easily and are purchasing inexpensive smartphones.
