After conducting the meeting with senior party leaders on 29th January 2014 in New Delhi, he took the decision of resignation. Meeting was headed by Sonia Gandhi, Congress President.

31.01.2014: Guidelines and Strategies on Oil Palm and Oil Seeds issued by Union Agricultural Ministry. Main aim of these guidelines is aimed at enhancement of production of traditional and tree borne oil seeds. Rs.3507 Crores was sanctioned by the government under 12th five year plan.

Economic Growth of India for 2012-13 lowered to 4.5 %
31.01.2014: Economic Growth of India for 2012-13 lowered to 4.5 % as against 5 % in previous year. This was announced by Union Government of India. Growth was estimated in account of performance in manufacturing, Mining and Agriculture. Gross Domestic Product growth in 2011-12 increased to 6.7 % as against 6.2 % in previous year. GDP was estimated on the basis of Savings & Capital Formation, Consumption Expenditure and National Income.

31.01.2014: Safety Ratings of Indian Aviation downgraded by FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Due to this India raking come down from 1st to 2nd category. This means Indian Aviation Regulator does not meet the safety standards set by the UN Agency, International Civil Aviation Organisation.

31.01.2014: 3 Transgender Persons employed in Sindh Government in Pakistan. For the first time transgender were employed in Pakistan. Those 3 persons were Anjum, Muskaan and Riffay Khan. Appointment of these persons was confirmed by Sindh Minister for Social Welfare and Development.

Portal was launched by High Commissioner of India to UK Ranjan Mathai and Sam Pitroda. This is specially meant for children between 6 to 15 years.
