Tata launched ‘Nexon’ at Auto Expo 2014 – 1.2L Revtron powered SUV, a threat to Ford Eco Sport and Renault Duster?

Tata Motors has revealed an exclusive SUV concept at this year’s Auto Expo 2014 at Greater Noida. The new crossover has been named as ‘Nexon’ and Tata has brought forward a completely fresh design pattern with the model. The model has been showcased as a concept and there is no information about the launch schedule so far. The manufacturer is very confident that the new Nexon will help them show their existence in the SUV segment of the Indian market.

The front fascia of the new Nexon has some remarkable Ideas of the maker and it looks very aggressive and cool at the same time. The front bumper is very bigger and the fog lamps have been curved within the front bumper. The larger grille extends up to the head lamps which are absolutely amazing. There is no doubt that this new design pattern of the headlamps would attract the majority of Indian buyers and the head lamps are surrounded by orange half rings which are meant to act as indicators basically.

Tata has also taken very care while choosing the interior for the new Nexon and nobody would deny to flag the model’s interior as of ‘Premium Class’. In connection with the launch of the model at the Auto Expo, Mr. Ravi Pisharody, the Executive Director of Commercial Vehicles segment, Tata Motors has stated “The Company’s new products translate into a great business proposition, combining low cost ownership with driver comfort and high performance”.

Currently, the manufacturer has launched the new Nexon SUV in petrol version only but they have intimated that there is possibility of launching diesel version of the model in near future. The SUV comes powered with a 1.2 litre turbo charged Revotron petrol engine that is capable of generating around 110 PS of power at the peak along with 170 Nm of torque. Engine comes mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission gear box as standard and there is no other choice available. As per the information, the new Nexon SUV would deliver fuel efficiency around 18 kmpl most probably and we may expect the model to be available for sale by the end of 2015.
