LG G 3 may come out with New Snapdragon 805 Processor
The LG G 3 smart phone was unveiled last month and it started selling at once in Korea, though it is yet to come to the United States of America. Meanwhile, rumor has it that the company wants to upgrade the phone. It not necessarily anything to do with the outer design but the innards. The smart phone will reportedly be replaced with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor instead of the 80 it came packed with. A report from Korea suggests that the new phone will be launched as early as next month.
Taipei: While it is expected to sport the same 5.5-inch HD display, the alleged new processor will reportedly be accompanied with an Andreno 420 GPU or graphics processor. The new processor will speed up the device besides adding 4K ultra high definition video support. It is expected that the download speeds too may improve considerably. The guess is, why LG is going to this extent is because this is the trend and even Samsung is expected to spruce up the Galaxy S5. Also the present 801 processor is unable to maintain the quality of the QHD display of the LG G 3 just as the 805 is expected to do. Also the Snapdragon 805 is expected to provide theoretical download speed of 225 Mbps thanks to the integrated Qualcomm MDM9635 modem.
Samsung is said to be planning to bring out a better version of its Galaxy S5 with a Snapdragon 805 processor, which may be called Galaxy prime or Galaxy F, in July. Currently the Galaxy S5 is said to be behind the LG G 3 in speed and other features. There is no confirmation of the launching of the said smart phone though.
Earlier, applications for trademark to the USPTO suggested that a new LG G 3 variant will have ‘prime’ in its name. It is guessed that the name will apply to a high end version of the LG G 3. The available LG G 3 smart phone sports a 5.5 inch Quad HD screen with a 2560×1440 resolution and 538ppi. It runs on a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and LG’s own version of Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS. The new LG G 3 version is also expected to sport 3GB of RAM and one choice of storage options which include 16 GB and 32 GB of built in storage, plus a micro SD card slot. It will sport the same 2.1 megapixel front facing camera and 13 megapixel rear camera as of now. But if it is coming in July it is likely to upgrade to Android 5.0 which is expected to be launched this month.
